Newsletter 3

So, what’s happening this month? Well, once again we have been listening to all the constructive criticism we get from you and use it to improve our salon and the service we give.

At the end of September we went to London to attend the Nail Fair at Olympia. It was a great opportunity to see what’s in and what’s out, as well as to see some of the best nail techs in the world at work. The most exciting and nerve racking thing about this trip was that Becky and I competed in the Nailympics!! Yes, you read it correctly, the Nail Olympics!! An international nail competition which means we competed against the best nail techs in the world; a scary thought to say the least but a great experience! I placed 7th which I was very pleased with but I will return next year to go for the top three!

As of October we will be changing to winter opening hours. The new hours are listed in the green column of this letter.  As you will see, there are two late nights which will be good for those of you who work full time and the atmosphere will be a little different; more fun, slightly louder music ...... get the picture? Yep, thought you would?

We are excited to welcome Ann Jenkins to Beauty Inc. Most of you will remember Ann as being one of the top masseurs in Malta and we are glad to inform you all that she is back!! For appointments with Ann, call Renata at the salon .

As you have all become aware, we send out appointment reminders to you the evening before your appointment. You cannot reply to this message as it is computer generated however, should you be unable to make your appointment, you can message me on 9944 2860 or call at the salon on 2138 1275.

Please do cancel your appointment if you will not be coming. When you don’t turn up, we waste an hour of our time.

Also, in order for us to keep to our time schedule and start our clients on time, we depend on you all arriving on time. Easy parking is available at Exiles. Please understand that although we know that running late is sometimes unavoidable, we must respect all of our clients and their appointments and do our very best to keep you all happy.

Last month we hosted a hen morning with very positive feedback. The bride to be, Danae Scerri, had the following to say:

“I recently spent a morning at Beauty Inc – the day before my wedding. I was greeted by friendly staff, a room fit for a queen and service with a million smiles. Everyone went out of their way to spoil me! The pedicure was incredible and the manicure made me feel fantastic. The perfect way to prepare for your wedding or if you want to feel special! Thanks to all at Beauty Inc!"

Did you know?

  • You don’t have to give your nails a “rest” from LCN nail enhancements. The product is not absorbed into your nail matrix and does no damage. It’s just like colouring your hair, you are treating the new growth every time you re-do it.
  • Mens’ nails grow faster than womens’.
  • Your small finger nail grows the slowest and your middle finger the fastest.
  • The nails on your dominant hand grow faster than the nails on the other hand.
  • Nails grow much faster in the heat.

As most of you are aware, Becky is no longer working from Beauty Inc. she is now working from home on a Monday and from a salon in Zebbug from Tuesday to Saturday. Those of you who would like her number are welcome to call us and we will give it to you. She is using LCN products for all treatments as is Jessica who is working in the same salon in Zebbug. I wish them both Good Luck in their new jobs.
Regards

Sue

October 2009

Hi again to you all.

Thank you to all of you who got back to me about the newsletter. It went down well and you enjoyed it. I hope that it will grow slowly and be more informative, with welcome contributions from you; anything that can help each other would be more than welcome. Pictures of your work will also be appreciated.

The offer on LCN gel went really well, I am sure you are pleased with your builder gels. Should you have any questions on using them or their properties, you can call me, message me or email me. I am more than happy to help and support you.

I held 2 seminars in the first week of October. One in Gozo and one in Malta. The seminar was free to attend and the response was good. The girls learnt how to use camouflage and also do aquarium nails and stiletto nails. Have a look at the semi stilettos I did at the salon as a practise run – they are gorgeous, real show stoppers and client grabbers!!! If you don’t know how to do these nails, give me a call and we can do a one to one training session.

Camouflage gels.

LCN have two camouflage gels. One which is viscose and used as a base and one which is a builder gel. Both are used to enhance the clients’ nail bed and are good for use on bitters, damaged nail beds or small nail beds. You can create beautiful nails with LCN camouflage. Once you start using these camouflage gels, you will never go back. Nails look spectacular with this technique.

The new stock has just arrived, so if you were waiting or stuff to arrive…. Its here ? also, theres a great offer on files, so go for it.

Halloween is coming up, get geared up to do some Freaky Nails on your clients? fun nails are good adverts for you girls, celebrate the long weekend with your clients, decorate your salon, hand out a glass of freaky punch! Anything goes. Start thinking about Christmas. Make your salon fun and festive, we will all need help to get festive this year!! Go all the way, big smiles and happy faces, its Christmas!!!

Helpful Tips.

Client consultation cards.

The Beauty Industry in Europe is undergoing an overhaul which will mean that all professionals in the industry will have to take responsibility for their work and face the consequences of their errors.  Many European countries already have rigorous rules and standard guidelines which must be adhered before anyone is allowed to carry out treatments of any kind on a client. Workers in the industry must be well trained and certified by authorised bodies which will ensure their level of competence is acceptable. As clients we can expect a competent person to work on us and if serious errors are made, responsibility must be taken.

Insurance will be required in order to operate any kind of beauty business and nails are part of this. As professionals, we must take responsibility for our work and follow European health and safety code of ethics and regulations, you find these on the internet. Covering yourself is important and one of the main things required is client consultation cards and client history.

Should anything happen with a client, your client history will be vital as it states each treatment, any problems which occurred etc. For example, if the client came to you with a fungal infection and you recommend action, this will be written. If the client does not follow your recommendation, this will also be noted and so on and so forth. If the client injures her finger or nail, this will be noted and any future problems that may stem from such injury cannot be blamed on you.

So, what should you include on such a card?

Clients name, address and contact numbers
The date of her first treatment with you and the date of every subsequent treatment.
A history of previous treatments.

Information regarding lifestyle, hobbies etc which will help you decide on shape, length and product to be used.
Any illnesses or skin conditions which are relevant to your treatment.

The more time, the closer we get to the implementation of standards and licensing of nail bars. It will mean that unless a nail technician holds certification recognised on an international level, a license to operate will not be issued. Without a licence, insurance will not be given and this will be needed as clients will have the right to sue a nail tech if she has caused damage to her client in any way. Its time to think about your VCTC exams, do them, get certified and be a professional!!

Regards

Sue

On our website, you can look under the privilege client section and find out what your points are worth.

The computer system will automatically tell us when you reach the required amount of points for a discount or free treatment.

It’s easy peasy, just keep your tag on you at all times and we’ll do the rest!!

We are launching various other discounting systems and offers which you will hear about through the mail. We know you’ll love our efforts at giving you value for money!

Please note however, that offers and vouchers do not earn privilege points.

sue100-200907 July 2009

Welcome to Beauty Inc’s very first news letter.

I’ll be using these to communicate upcoming events, offers and services that will be of interest to you.

It’s been a year since I opened the doors in Sliema and what a year it’s been. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support, loyalty and patience and promise to continue to improve on our services, their quality and, the customer care.

I never thought that Beauty Inc would become so busy and was, in all honesty, totally unprepared for the volume of work. It has been a question of fire fighting all the way which means that the right results were not always achieved. I have now taken steps to improve on all aspects of the Salon so read on and find out what my team and I have been up to!

As many of you may have already noticed, the number of staff has increased. Beauty Inc now has a team of 6 nail techs, 1 beautician and 1 salon co-ordinator.

Renata is the salon co-ordinator. She is your point of reference and the main person you’ll hear on the phone.

My daughter Justine, joined the team three months ago and following her training, (she was brought up on nails!) she has now started her own client base. Becky has become a senior nail tech, well done to her for her achievement and the great work she produces every day. Lisa and Baigal joined us last month and come in two days a week each.

They were both students of mine and have been working for two years. I have fine tuned their work and am pleased to say that they too are doing great nails! The newest member of the team is Janna. She has worked with acrylic for years and is mastering gel, she’s doing well and in about a month will be up there with the rest. The secret about Janna is her pedi’s and mani’s. She does wicked treatments and specialises on problem feet. You will not be disappointed and that’s a promise!

Jessica, our little rooky, has been doing pedi’s and mani’s but has a passion for nails so she’ll soon be shifting to our section but will still be available for waxing.

Sarah, our Gozitan lady, is great at waxing and pedi’s. She joins us every Monday and Tuesday, so ladies, give her a try on waxing, i guarantee she’ll remove every hair with the greatest of ease ?

I think you all know Christal now. Christal carries out magical Karin Herzog facials. A pure treat for your skin and what a massage! She can massage all your stress away and her treatments make great gifts to your friends and loved ones – men too!

And then of course there’s me. I am slowly moving into a management role which will enable me to spend 10 minutes with most of you each time you come in, ensuring that the job is done well and that you are all happy with our service. I will of course still be carrying out treatments, but I believe that with the great team I have managed to get together, I will be more effective by monitoring as many different appointments as I can and ensuring your individual satisfaction.

Janet Spiteri Staines has joined Lisa Faure in the sales and marketing of LCN products and they will be hosting VIP nights which you will all be invited to over the next few months. We are holding these nights for small groups of up to 30 people at a go, so it will take us a while to get to you all, but we will. You are all VIP’s to me and the next 12 months is going to be dedicated to showing you how special you really are.

The Belgian Connection

Tuesday, 05 May 2009 22:16

One of Belgium's leading LCN technicians held a sales event last weekend in a great night club.

The event created awareness for the products and gets new clients to register as members of the salon.

As members they are entitled to various perks, a great idea that we will definately adapt here. At Beauty Inc we have always had a loyalty scheme in place which gives our clients discounts through out the year.

Unfortunately, since we moved to the new salon, we have not really worked on it and so, celebrating our one year birthday in Dingli Street in Sliema, we will re launch the loyalty scheme as a membership pack.

Keep your eyes and ears open.................
